I'm in your camp on this. I just told the wife I will boil all the shrimp she wants, but until crawfish prices come down a good bit more than they are now, I'll do without them.
To get 1 lb. of crawfish tail meat, you'd have to pick through around 8 lbs. of boiled crawfish, and at damn near $5 a lb., that works out to $40 a lb. for the tail meat.
For that price I'll buy 8 lbs. of shrimp, boil them and eat on them for a few days-------or a nice thick prime ribeye, grill it in about 5 minutes and share it with her and not have all the mess to deal with like you do with a boil.
