Because the story wasn’t that Juliet was a man. I didn’t explain because it was self explanatory. The story was about two young lovers. Why not have Romeo be a 45 yr old guy & Juliet a 12 yr old girl? In a burka.
Because that’s not what Shakespeare wrote.
This is an unnecessary choice but I’m sure all the correct people will approve.
