Interesting indeed. Ive been there many times, their population mix is very similar to Trinidad, though we have less Amerindians.
They consider themselves part of the Caribbean, not South American. Not only are their demographics similar, but they were a former English Colony, only one in South America, and thus speak english, have a governing system similar. They are part of Caricom (Caribbean trading bloc).
And soon will be pumping over a million barrels a day in a country with 760,000 people. That would be like the US pumping 350 million a day.
And they do have an expression, if you know an honest Guyanese.....you probably dont know them well enough.
The most breathtaking natural scenery I have ever seen in my life in the interior, take a bush plane to Kaieteur falls in the interior.
