I bet less than 1/4 of the registered users here know how to drive a stick shift. First ride was a 3 on the tree

Learned to drive (when I was 10) in a 1972 Volkswagen Thing with a 4-speed, on our farm.

So was mine 67 Chevy 3 on the tree and gas tank behind the bench seat.

Today a stick shift would be a great way to avoid a car jacking.

I learned to drive in a 1947 Chevy truck with a stick shift. Later in a 1968 Ford truck with 3 on the tree. Been in Germany for almost 36 years and never owned an automatic. Since then I've only driven automatics in rental cars in the States. I'll never buy an automatic...

My 76 Bronco has a 302 and a 3 on the tree. It’s an absolute blast to drive. I’m going to rebuild all the linkage and bushings to get rid of the slop. Folks used to put in floor shift conversion kits when the columns would wear out but I’m keeping it on the column.

I never had a reason to learn. My first car was a hand-me-down 1992 Ford Taurus automatic.
