Big interior DL guys aren’t supposed to rack up tackles. He will be a guy that eats up blocks which we don’t have many of.
This. People are stupid. We need him to swallow blocks so Perk can come down flying like a bat out of hell instead of getting washed an offensive lineman

Exactly. Baker wants his DTs to eat up blocks to allow for the more athletic LBs and the Star position to come up and make tackles. I heard more than a couple people who saw Saturday's practice say that the LBers were almost impossible to judge because the OL was getting to the 2nd level so fast and neutralizing him. A 23-year-old grown man who's been in Wisconsin's weight room for 5+ years can only help with that. We're not looking for the next Aaron Donald--he doesn't exist and if he did wouldn't be available--we're looking for guys to add to the rotation that can give good reps without a huge drop-off. This guy fits that. And I doubt seriously he'll be the last we get and likely won't be the best we get.

A interior defensive lineman usually plays 2 gaps. The one to their right and to their left. They do not play in open space. Their opportunities for tackles are limited by the amount of runs in their gaps. If a good defensive line does their job they will need to be double teamed constantly and many teams will run away from their gaps.
