High school football participation has been collapsing in California and COVID sped the process up 100X. Couple that with major demographic changes and you just aren't going to find linemen in CA like you could 20 years ago.

It sounds more like the USC donor class driven by Rick Caruso turned on the money hose and the admin allowed the handcuffs to be taken off the NIL strategy after the Tennessee ruling.

Good stuff. Yep, CA is a shell of what it once was. There's so few Oline and Dline nowadays.

Yeah I know...California weirdos here have been on an anti-football bent for some time. fricking soccer fields everywhere.

Pete Carroll said early on, all we have to do is shore up L.A. and roll down to Long Beach Poly for the linemen and then grab a QB from Mater Del and we're good.

So USC lost their backyard like Georgia and Florida and LSU have. USC being truly dominate again is a lot tougher than people realize.
