having just spent time up there, this is accurate on both sides. i went to Boston, Portsmouth, NH, Cape Elizabeth, and Portland, ME.

Lots of trans flags, black lives matter, and no human is illegal signs. Also everything was ungodly expensive and impossible to have houses near city centers for people that weren't making 6 figures. i also saw a single black person in NH, 0 hispanics, and every black person i saw in Portland was in service industry.

i came away getting why they vote that way. they have very few inner city problems, low poverty, lower single parent households, good schools, very homogenous society, and it's expensive AF.

It didn't change my opinion about their perspectives. I get red states look like assholes for not welcoming immigrants, not being forgiving of higher crime in some black communities, and caring about gay stuff in schools. To boot, none of the service workers can afford to live where they work, so of course they're socialists.

somebody i know from Maine or Rhode Island (been a couple of years) said "Texas elections are stupid. you guys are arguing about crime, books in libraries, taxes, the border, and drag shows. My governor is running on us being #2 in education and needing to get to #1."

no shite sherlock. you aren't having to hire ESL teachers and push off graduating 19 YOs with a 4th grade reading level.
