I've worked on the Environmental and Regulatory side of O&G for 20 years.

No one gives a shite about the "climate crisis". If anything, it's viewed as job security.

I am in the same field as you, been doing it about 10 years. Same thought where I am that it's not going anywhere. It will always be needed even if it eventually is reduced in some capacity.

and the "double talk" bit

all the majors are investing millions of dollars into methane reduction, freshwater neutral, spill prevention, etc

so even if they don't care about the "climate crisis", they are still investing heavily, at minimum, to attract investors that do care

other than completely shutting down, I'm not sure what more anyone would want
