Would you recommend trades to a kid with potential to do more?

Not necessarily. Can you list exactly what gift you're referring to, though? What's the best way to assess a 16 year old's orthopedic surgeon chops? Deer season?

Or not. Stay mute.

Depends on the kid. Does he have a clear path and a plan for going into a field like engineering or medicine? Then no. Does he not know what he wants to do and will declare a major like political science (speaking from experience, here)? Then he should look hard into a trade instead. Maybe he decides it is not for him, but an English speaking man with a good head on his shoulders can go far in a skilled trade.

A guy who is from the family that says Our Business Stinks, But It's Picking Up talking about "potential to do more." That's rich.
