occasionally a coworker/acquaintance/friend will ask if I want to go to some sort of event and i'll decline on the spot if it's something i know i have no interest in and they're often pretty surprised when i pass on the offer.

people are so used to asking someone to do something, the invitee accepting, then flaking later. weird stuff.
