There have to be 10K plus people in the venue to watch these guys play today. The atmosphere is insane.

I have a coworker really into it. From the upper midwest, I guess its part of the pantheon of winter bar activities that occur there.

Its his hobby. Watches YouTube videos constantly. Hes obsessed with it.

I subscribe to PDC Live (Professional Darts Corporation) that is the biggest darts organization out of England. They stream over 500 hours of top level darts a year between stage and floor events.

The audience atmosphere has taken of a Mardi Gras like persona in the past several years with many people in costumes, lots of drinking and some pretty loud crowds now being the norm.

Years ago the audiences were much more respectful of the players and when they did cheer, it was almost always after the player threw his/her 3 darts and were pretty much very quiet as they were throwing.

Now, it is insanity, but it brings the crowds. When a darts match attract 10K people to an arena, that is bringing in big $$$$$ to the organization.
