Ummmmm, let's see. 70's had Zeppelin, Eagles, Skynyrd, Stones, Beatles, America, Crosby Stills & Nash, Aerosmith, Queen. Need I go on? 80's had some really good stuff, especially early on, but come on guys. This ain't even close.

80s for sheer volume of music available and recording/production quality as well as overall quality that really lasted until 1994.
Second place: 1968 - 1976. Zeppelin. The Rolling Stones put out their best stuff during this period along with the Faces....songwriting was great with Croce,McCartney,David Gates,etc. and the guitarists from this era were insanely good
