A little first hand knowledge on the topic. My stepson is also a felon because of drugs. Way before I ever knew him though When my wife and I were got married she asked me if he could come stay until he could get on his feet AGAIN. It’s a rinse and repeat with him. I reluctantly agreed and told her that I would agree to him staying with us but only for a month. That’s when she told me that him being a felon means that I could not have any guns in the house. I laughed and said that was out of the question and if that meant him not staying with us then so be it. I always keep guns readily available but always locked up. I have grandchildren and if something ever happened to one of them I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.
