I could not disagree more. Those smaller conference tournament championship games are peak excitement with a spot in the Big Dance on the line - win gets it, loser is crushed. Plus the Cinderella wins in the NCAA tournament. Would be ridiculous to intentionally eliminate all of this.

Yep and it helps coaches (and now players) get their name on the map for bigger and better opportunities.
