Part of the problem is that there’s not nearly enough money to go around. Promises are being made that may or may not come to fruition. And it’s not just limited to LSU.

But yes, the portal, which is unmitigated free agency essentially every day, mixed with no regulation on paying teenagers, is a recipe for College Football‘s demise. I know I sound like a broken record, and many others have said this, but the pageantry College Football used to have is quickly waning. The NFL will be the ultimate beneficiary.

This is exactly right. Imagine the NFL, but with no draft, no salary cap, (effectively) no roster limit, and unlimited free agency. Think what a joke that would be in terms of competitive balance. Sadly, that is where college sports are headed.
