This mass hysteria surrounding planes having to make emergency landings is absurd. There hasn’t been a single major US airline crash in almost 20 years. Your chances of getting into a plane crash are 1 in 7,000,000. Commercial aviation in the US is the safest it’s ever been.
To put it in perspective, back in the 70s and 80s they would have life insurance booths at airports where your family could sign up to receive payouts in case a family member died in a flight crash. Now life insurance booths are non-existent in airports because the risk of crashing is so extremely low.

Worrying about stupid shite like this is no different from worrying about mass shooters. You’re only worrying about it because the media is making a mass hysteria panic out of a couple of isolated incidents.
I think there is a fair middle ground between accepting this and also hoping for more from the airlines. Flying is a miserable experience that gives the average person a sense that, even if an airline tragedy occurred, the bean counters wouldn't care or change all that much. But it really goes back to the force of incentives, which we are all susceptible to - they have 0 incentive to improve.

The difference is that I’m in control of my own destiny on the Highway. Reaction time, driving conservatively, etc
When something goes wrong at 30,000 feet. You’re just sitting there powerless, hoping it’s not catastrophic
