I cannot recall the last person I know that died on a commercial flight. Because it’s ZERO
Such overblown nonsense.
Now car wrecks —- we all have at least 5 or more people in our lives that were seriously injured or killed in a car wreck.

When self driving cars are the norm the amount of wrecks and fatalities will drop drastically.

You know, it is possible to say that overall, air travel is very safe, and yet, there are some concerning cracks developing in the foundation.
Small issues today can become big issues in the future if the are not corrected now.
