I’m sold that McMahon can succeed here with a complete and complementary roster — my sole question is whether he can put that roster together.
I feel the exact same way.
But to respond to more of the thread in general- UNT is a better team than LSU. And is very likely better coached. Period. They lost the last game, we didn't win it. Their best players shot terribly from the field. It wasn't going to happen again. Plus, they are much better than their record indicates as they dealt with a lot of injuries in conference play.

This stuck out to me like a sore thumb last night. North Texas moved the ball efficiently, got (and made) high quality shots, kept LSU's defense on their heals the entire game, and played physical defense without fouling. All of those are things that LSU has failed to do consistently all year. In fact, I would say there's maybe 1 or 2 games this year where we played an entire game doing those things. So then the question is either North Texas has much better players or a much better coach. If the players are better its certainly not because their coach recruited elite high school talent or even got elite level talent in the portal. Either their coach is that much better of a coach than McMahon, is that much better at developing players, or both. Either way, what we're getting from a coaching perspective is simply not enough right now, and last night highlighted that

This coach isn't worth a shite, won't win shite, and will put our program further in the hole.
