I mean, you can, but they always have the option of issuing a bench warrant for failure to appear.

If you don't want to go, just go online and fill out the dismissal request, or call them if you have to. I had a summons dismissed lat June and it was no big deal. It was all online and I got the reply the next morning.

I got called for the first time a year or so back in my mid 40s.

I didn't do anything but sit in a big room and play on my phone. I never even got interviewed or anything before I was dismissed.
