That's an impressive amount of revisionist history. I smell the distinct bouquet of the 1619 Project in this (for reference, it smells like old socks, menthol and the desperation to manufacture a niche in order to fulfill a deep need for self-validation).

For reference, gender has been synonymous with anatomical sex since forever. The very word "gender" comes from the Latin word "genus", which means class, family or sort. If that word sounds familiar it's because it's still used today in biological taxonomy as a method of classifying life based on physical characteristics (rather on how they "feel" they should be classified).
