Not trashy, at all.
Swearing is an art form, a way to accentuate and refine the meaning, or force, of other words. Do you think lawyers, doctors, executives don't swear? Most of them swear like drunken sailors when talking amongst themselves. I mean, for frick's sake, they're just words!
Swearing in front of your children isn't bad parenting, it's preparing their gentle ears for adulthood. There's nothing worse than a person who never swears...it's a trait of weakness, imo. You can't be scared of words and hold much credibility in my eyes.
Did I allow my kids to swear in front of me before turning 18? Some, but I'd always throw out a "whooaahhh" or something to indicate they aren't adults yet. Now that they're grown? They cuss like sailors and I'm fine with it.
