The women’s college basketball AAC Championship comes down to Rice (18-14) and East Carolina (19-13) on Wednesday. The journey to the championship game for both teams has been lined with upset wins. The Owls and Pirates both came in tied at 9-9 in the conference finishing in sixth place. The Pirates upset eighth-seeded Memphis (65-63), one-seeded Tulsa (75-71) and fourth-seeded UTSA (55-54) as the ninth-seed. For the Owls, they entered the tournament as the 10th seed and won their three games against seventh-seeded UAB (71-56), second-seeded North Texas (61-59) and third-seeded Tulsa (60-57). All three wins leading to this championship game for both teams came against teams seeded higher than them.
