Listen to this guy.

Especially with him being 5 years old, these golf outings with you could likely be his first core memories that he remembers throughout his life.

Let him have fun and don’t get into the weeds yet.

I don’t have much golf experience, but IMHO I think it’s very similar to tennis

You don’t need to make the best 8 year old. That’s all a ton of lessons at this age will do. Expose him, let him be comfortable around golf. You want him to be loving it and begging for lessons at around 10 years old. That’s the point in time lessons and hardcore training actually become important if he truly wants a competitive future in the sport. And if he doesn’t, nothing you do matters anyway. Seems like you have a level head on your shoulders about it though
