Most importantly, stand around for the 30 minutes you are in line and do nothing. Then when you get to the x-ray machine, stand as close to the conveyor belt as possible being sure to block everyone else, then slowly and methodically begin to unload your pockets of the 43 things you have on your person. Don't use the tray they provide under any circumstances. Instead, slowly load each item into individual pockets of your carry on. Bonus points for how long you can delay everyone else and for your ability to completely ignore them and their need to get to a flight.

THIS will earn you the respect of TSA and your fellow travelers. Don't be one of those lone idiots that utilizes the wait in line time to put your stuff in your bag so you can just toss it on the X ray belt and walk through the scanner thus not delaying the line. Those guys are nerds.
