I said destroyers for a reason. Carriers have been hyper vulnerable since the Japanese figured out they had a bit of value. Again, 100 DDGs. The more places you can put VLS, including from SSGNs, the better. The book "Tin Cans and Greyhounds" cemented my belief in smaller combatant ships.

But the current non China challenge is destroying drones that cost under $100k, and Iranian missiles that cost less than an SM-6.
