re: Give teachers a raise....Nah.

I am in my classroom teaching/planning for over 40 hours each week. This doesn’t count time before and after school tutoring, sponsoring clubs, working sporting events (no extra pay). I teach Chemistry and Physics so on lab days I have to go in early to prepare the lab.

Throw in the hours spent grading/planning at home and on worthless, but mandatory professional development - on average, I’m spending over 50 hours each week to educate and support your kids, which I completely enjoy (except the PD).

I’m not complaining- I love my job and I never complain about my salary because I knew it would suck going in. I’m just correcting the OP’s claim about our work hours.
