If Doug Thompson cries about the bullpen one more time I'm going to stab him with a fork. The bullpens have been there for 100 years and very few people have ever been injured on them. Doug and Buzzy both had bullpens on the field when they played and amazingly they didn't die. It's a miracle.

Meh. They built the 1st Box when we had no history. The 2nd after we had a stretch of winning 5 CWS in 10 seasons, hosted 18 regionals in 22 seasons, 4 Supers, and in the last 25 years there were 732-197-4 and had surpassed USC as the most storied college baseball program of all time (considering the competition in the 70s and length of time they'd been irrelevant). I think we had enough political capital as a program to move the goddamn bullpens off the fricking field. And if a couple of national champions want to bring it up during a boring arse Saturday evening game a few times, who really gives a shite.

FYI, today I learned that one Buzzy Haydel made the final putout at the old Box--playing 1B--on a 1-3 come backer hit to Anthony Renaudo.

Buzzy put the ball in his back pocket and kept it.

That comebacker was hit by one Tyler Hoechlin. Tyler Hoechlin, as a child actor 6 years before, had played Tom Hanks’ son in the film “The Road to Perdition”.

I think those plans Ell posted warrant their own thread. But I've changed my mind after seeing them. I'd rather keep the bullpens on the field if it means we're going to turn our park into a pinball machine

Carl, the new box has been a disgrace since day 1. It pains me to say that but it’s true.
