Legit question for all of you construction minded baws around here, because I honestly don't know:
How hard is it to build something like this at the site of the golf course? With the proximity to the river and all the stuff we hear about with the sand boils and unstable soil, would this be a difficult undertaking given that some of the footprint would need to be underground/below grade? I'm sure there are challenges for this site that the new alex box didn't have to deal with. Would you just have to do more vertical construction than digging down? Asking because I legit don't know.

The golf course is far enough away from the river that the river should not be a problem. If it were closer to River Rd. like some have suggested you run the risk of having all earthwork activities shut down during the spring months due to river levels.

I was able to get some info this morning. Big reason why the track facilities aren't moving anymore is because the original budget going into moving them to the golf course was massively lower than what engineers told them it would end up costing. And it would be really simple to build those facilities in comparison to building a full-fledge arena with amenities.
So from what I've gathered: it's not just annoying to work around the golf course, but the actual cost of construction is going to be astronomical regardless of where we build.
