As much as we pay in “school” taxes in Tx we could just pay for private school in La. These “school taxes” are how they build these ridiculous FB stadiums. The roads are decent I guess? But if you want to get around you really need a toll tag because they design it where the free roads are very inconvenient and pretty much force you to drive the toll roads.

With young kids, I saved money moving from Dallas daycares to NOLA private schools. I was also concerned with my area’s public schools and the feedback we were getting from other parents. I know what I’m going to get here with private schools.

I’m not ignorant enough to say the infrastructure, government, etc weren’t better there. To each his own. We recognized that while being able to maintain our same careers in moving home, our children’s lives would be far more enriched in Louisiana culture. Where they go from here is up to them, and we’ll support them every step of the way.

Honestly this is key to me. I don’t want my kids to grow up in the generic lifestyle that suburban Tx offers. Louisiana culture and Louisiana traditions are so special and make growing up there so great.

Suburban Tx is just so bland. If it weren’t for the numerous La transplants it would be even worse!
