Not really. In his last two seasons, 2003 & 2004, he was top 5. 2000-2002 his best year was #15 I believe.
So he probably would have continued that based on what he did at Bama but that is pure speculation.
Take a look at Clemson before winning their first Natty and subsequently. Their recruiting stepped up considerably post NC1.
Recruiting is a big part of winning championships and seems more and more important every year. But winning also helps recruiting. It's a yin and yang thing.
