FAFSA is a requirement for the FWS (Federal Work Study) program.
And you can qualify for FWS with an income above that required for grants and other income based awards.
Work Study, especially when linked to a professor or specific college, is a good tool for references and internships. My kid parlayed his work study (grading papers/test proctor) into an internship. Plus he made some pocket money.
