In the 19th century, Britain, the US, France, and Russia all occupied strategic locations in Japan and all forced the Shogunate to sign unequal treaties. Japan was absolutely westernized against its will. The fact that the government was so weak that they didn't even try to oust the Europeans doesn't mean they weren't invaded. If you know that resistance is futile so you decide to just lie back and take it, that doesn't mean you weren't raped.
Didn't you ever see The Last Samurai? That's what that whole movie was about.
Anyway, even if somehow that's supposed to not qualify, what about 1945? Japan was defeated and occupied at the end of WWII from 1945-1952.
How does Japan qualify as a nation that has never been conquered by any other countries?
