guarantees a first-round bye to any team, division or conference before the season starts
This is absolutely 100% the dumbest thing that any sport or league has ever thought of.

What I find funny in all this is that SEC fans talk trash on Notre Dame for wielding their power just like they are wanting the SEC to do. SEC fans are just mad because Notre Dame has more power than they do even though they’ve been mediocre on the field in years. It’s just hilarious. Notre Dame has their own network because they are a National fanbase that is a money machine. Even with all the Natties, the SEC remains regional with regional fanbases. Notre Dame doesn’t have to join a conference, They are a 1 team conference and there is nothing the SEC or BIG can do about it. They will get an invite into whatever size playoff that they approve because the TV execs want them. All they gotta do is be decent. Sure, they’ll lose on the field but they’ll win at the bank and that is all that matters. Natties come and go but money and power stay.
