If OP is a frequent traveler, it's entirely his fault. Whatever can go wrong, will. Marriott knows how to fix it. Some rando you're renting from, especially after getting drunk all day, will leave your family stranded. Next time, if they're arriving that late, book them into a major hotel chain at the airport, then take a ride into town the next day to find your AirBnB. At least that way you kids know they're going to get to sleep after arrival.

They arrived to the AirBNB at 8pm, so like you said, first lesson is don't get there that late.
