an all-timer performance by Billy Bob Thornton of a character completely embodying the tone of the movie…so detached from his life and those around him that he literally “wasn’t there”. Shot in black and white it builds steadily a feeling of aloofness amid the horror of the cascade of violence that really is unique
the coens are my favorite filmmakers and this one is the one I think about the most.
Miller’s Crossing is their best movie, and the one I’ve seen the most
