The act itself is what’s selfish. The person doing it is clearly in a dark place and doesn’t realize it (and might even be rationalizing to convince themselves it’s a selfless thing to do), but it’s still a selfish act.
I get the pain and despair. But when a person ends theirs, they cause a lot of pain and despair for everyone around them.
