Local BR sports card shop & Autograph Hustling

I have not been to a card show in 20 years, so I may be well out of the loop on these matters, but can an OP give some input on autograph pricing etc
The card shop made a post awhile back on their FB page regarding submitting items(balls, gloves, etc) to have autographed by Tommy Tanks. The shop even published a price list of items people could buy from the shop to have signed:
--regular normal baseball = $20
--Customer personal items $70-$90
This seems way out of ordinary, or no? Does White not sign for kids at games? IMO, Tommy White is doing himself a disservice being associated with this stuff/looks like a Pete Rose(only auto for money type guy). Of course, the shop is not clear on who profits what % of priced items.
PS..the shop keeps making post pushing back the hard deadlline so it seems i am not only person taken aback by this.
I can sign a $9 pearl "tommy white" and it would be as valuable as a non cert/auth auto ball.

quote:He can do that and still do a paid gig through a memorabilia shop/show too. There's a lot of people who collect memorabilia and don't have time to go to games, try to get seats close enough to the dugout, and hope that they'll have a chance for an autograph. Easier to just do it through one of these signings if you're a collector. Plus a lot of players aren't as likely to stop to sign for adults as they would be to sign for younger fans.

Exactly. He’s clearly profiting off his name, image, and likeness. Rather than being fed a deal as bait to play for a certain school

Also, theres a 99% chance you will get a much better looking signature, with a much better pen, at a signing.

$90 for an amateur athletes signature is fricking retarded. Obviously no one is buying it if the “deadline” is adjusting itself repeatedly
