Between the Gardner, his consort, the Pheasant, arguing with Mariko’s husband, and handing Toranaga his swords, they really nailed the fish out of water aspect for him this episode. Just a complete culture shock for him and the Japanese.

Him setting the rock back up in garden in shame for the Gardner was heartbreaking.

What was the point of him wanting to hang the bird up for a few days? Just him thinking it was still England's climate? Wouldn't it still be rotten after a day or two?
