Wonder if they will try to save Anderson for Rice. I would have liked to see him start tomorrow. For this point in a 4 game weekend we are pretty much set as far as pitching goes.

I'm certainly not giving up on Hurd to be in the weekend rotation yet. Way too premature to do that. I do agree with the sentiment that Hurd's volatility--that's the word I keep coming back to to describe his inconsistency (which is relative)--makes him a dangerous guy to pitch the 1st game of a tough series. Right now, at least. Having to go to Ack or Herring in the 3rd or 4th inning of Game 1 really fricks the pen up for the rest of the series. I'd give him another week, maybe 2, but he's got to show more consistency before SEC play starts because weeks 2 through 5 is an absolutely brutal stretch and I don't think we can afford to burn Ack or Herring game 1.
But while I did say I'm certainly not ready to give up on Hurd as a weekend starter (I think his volatility works even less coming out of the pen), because of the brutal start to the SEC schedule, Jay may have to make a move much earlier than he'd prefer to. So I think Coleman's start tomorrow is huge. As is Anderson's next one. I think both of their stuff plays in the SEC and either could wind up being an SEC starter whether if it's taking Hurd out of the weekend rotation or if they don't feel Jump is ready to be stretched out quite yet. And (knock on wood), there's always the chance of injuries. So I think the next 2 starts for Coleman and Anderson will go a long way towards one of them winning that 4h starter's job and sliding Into the weekend rotation in case of injury, Hurd not showing enough consistency, or Jump not being quite ready and ramped up in time for SEC play.

Great opportunity for Coleman.

Stony Brook is an 11:1 underdog today, +1100.
No chance I’m passing up those odds. That team definitely has our number more than once every 11 meetings
