re: Yucatan/QR road trip. Ideas?

My son and I went a few years back. Flew to Cancun and rented a car. Drove the coast to Mahaual and scuba dived for a week. Stopped by Bacalar and Chetumal for a day trip. Really neat towns. Saw a Mennonite farmer and his wife speed walking behind him trying to keep up walking through the streets of Chetumal. It was the most unexpected thing I’ve ever seen.

Great trip. Came back up to Valladolid and on to Chichen Itza for the day. Drove back to Cancun later that night.

We drove back on the side roads because we were out of Mexican money and didn’t want to find an exchange for the toll road back to Cancun. I don’t know HOW many topos we ran over and little towns we loped through that night but it took forever to get back to Cancun.
