One thing to keep in mind....the VAST majority of people coming into this country through the southern border are getting in legally as they claim asylum. This is why numbers are so high right now....the law states they're allowed in if they're seeking asylum. They're transported to another city, given a court date, and eventually learn if they're granted temporary status in the US. While there's certainly some who are coming across illegally, not seeking asylum, and evading detection, those folks are not what is driving the high numbers of crossings we're seeing reported.

So all these Chinese folks would either need to completely evade detection by CBP and local police OR seek political asylum through CBP checkpoints, which means they're all documented.
