My guess: She got beat up for pushing the non-binary stuff and everyone got sent home. Then her parents told her the reason she keeps getting beat up is from pushing the non-binary stuff, and she tried (and then succeeded) at offing herself.

i'm not saying i think this happened, but it sure seems pretty damn possible.
