Just got an e-mail from our local Scheels store. They are going to make a donation. We won't know how much it's for until we pick up the check. It's early out day for his school, so I'm going to make him dress up in his uniform when he gets home and go pick it up. They said he could convert it to a gift card and use it in the store. I'm going to try and convince him that's the right thing to do.
For those keeping score at home of how the big box stores are doing:
Cabela's/Bass Pro: 1
Scheels: 1
Sportsman's Warehouse: 0
ETA: We picked up the donation and they gave him $250! He was able to buy a dozen rods from them with a little bit left over!

Question for the group: He is working on his budget. How much do you think he should value a used rod donation? $10? $20? For his spreadsheet it would be easier just to have 1 set figure.
