but I still don't get the point in giving the G5 a pity invite.
Using last seasons rankings with next seasons conferences (i know not perfect but it gives an idea) Playoffs wouldve been
Byes
1)Mich
2)Texas
3) Bama
4) FSU

Hosts
5) Washington
6) Georgia
7) Ohio St
8) Oregon

9) Mizz
10) Penn St
11) Ole Miss
12) Liberty

13 wouldve been oklahoma

What difference does it make giving Oklahoma that bid or Liberty? Both have long odds of making it out of the first weekend much less winning and at least Liberty did something on the field to earn it (winning their conference). It really doesnt matter and you can argue it might occasionally draw more eyeballs just for the potential of what could happen.

The people arguing against having autobids at all watch how fast college football turns into even more of a regional sport like college baseball when there's 6 SEC teams in and the rest of the country doesnt give a frick. I get its not perfect but it's probably necessary from a media marketability standpoint.

Oklahoma @ Washington is an objectively better game than Liberty @ Washington. I'm about good football games, not appeasing teams that have zero shot of winning a single game in this playoff.

Do you really think that Liberty and Oklahoma would hypothetically have the same chance to beat Washington?

I have zero interest in watching Liberty play against Washington, I would watch Oklahoma play Washington.
