Well, for starters being ranked 11 and then having a G5 champion jump up because of auto-bids means that you are then ranked 12

I don't think there has been a clarification on this, but it seems to reason that if the top 4 conference champions get the top 4 seeds, they would want to give a "benefit" to the other conference champion too, and the best benefit to give them would be to have them host the 12th seed.

i dont think that's the intent of the 5th champion here, but i could be wrong.
