It may be high for the average farmer but it’s not ridiculous at all.

Also keeps in mind they may have been cold as shite at night which burns even more calories.

Have you tried googling this? I've been down a rabbit hole on this for the past hour, and while there isn't a consensus, the vast majority of info I've found is between 2k-5k calories, with the majority of estimates under 3k. The highest outlier I've found was 6k. Stanford claims 2900. Do we even know where the op got this number?
