Classic seems to take in a lot of territory. Three of my favorites.
Tunes of Glory
Big Hand for the Little Lady
From Here to Eternity
I’m uncertain if From Here to Eternity’s forgotten, being a classic and an Oscar winner.

But I’m often surprised when I discover friends, who are genuinely interested in movies and consider themselves well aquatinted with quality film making, have never seen it and know little of it.

This is especially interesting in that The Godfather uses it as a thinly veiled plot element. Making an offer that can’t be refused and getting Don Corleone’s godson into the film he’s been denied by cutting off the head of Khartoum, the Hollywood big shot’s prize stallion.

The godson is Frank Sinatra and the movie, From Here to Eternity. Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift, Frank Sinatra, Ernest Borgnine, Donna Reed. Set in and around Honolulu, Hawaii and Schofield Barracks prior to 7 December 1941. It’s genuinely one of the finest films Hollywood’s ever made.
