re: Alaska fishing

I’ve been to Alaska twice, both trips were more for vacation and we incorporated fishing trips into the week. If you want to catch Salmon, pick which kind and make sure the run for the species you want to catch is spawning in the area you are going at that time. Our first trip we fished in Ketchikan in Mid July and caught silvers. The Kings had run a few weeks earlier. Second trip to Alaska we did a combined fishing whale watching trip out of Juneaux with rum runner charters. It was great, we trolled for salmon, again catching silver in July, then spent a couple of hours whale watching, then went and caught a limit of halibut.
