I was tempted to give this show a shot until I saw this. No thanks….shout out to y’all for the warning

just to clarify, our flag means death is just gay pirates to be edgy and gay. no redeeming value.

black sails has a gay guy and he's well written and acted character amongst a host of other great straight and often naked (if that's your thing) characters.

avoid Our Flag Means Death if you just don't want an overly gay agenda,

do not avoid Black Sails if you don't mind a single character being gay with a very good story.

In addition. It’s been a little while since I’ve seen it but the only intimate scenes that he has are with ms barrow correct?

As someone who is definitively on the conservative side on this issue this was extremely non intrusive and did not take away from the story.

There’s two times that I roll my eyes and avoid the show from there on.

1. A show marketed to kids.

Black sails is not a show marketed to kids to say the least

2. When it doesn’t fit with the narrative arc of the story.

IE the last of us with Ron Swanson. Essentially an entire episode was devoted to give one scene for a character that minimally advanced the story. To me felt shoved in for no purpose.

In black sails it gave legitimate backstory and history to the main character and a source for his anger due to a societal reaction that might would have occurred at that time.
