hate this for Holly
You hate this for a guy that attempted to murder someone? Jesus dude, it’s not like he tore his ACL in winter conditioning. He straight up tried to kill someone. He doesn’t deserve your sympathy.
It is always a sad situation when a young person makes stupid decisions. And you can hate that they made those decisions while understanding that the consequences are deserved. It is also understandable that someone would have sympathy for all the lives impacted by the stupidity, including the young person who made the stupid decision and threw away his potential life.
I remember the founding pastor of our church saying many years ago that any of us is capable of anything we have seen people do. "There but for the grace of god go I" basically. As he pointed out, small changes in your life could have sent you down a different path. Things like who your parents were and how they approached raising you, the neighborhood and neighbors you grew up around, things you were exposed to as a very young child or growing up, and many other things, He also went on to say it does not mean you don't deserve the consequences of your action or should be excused in any way. It is only an explanation for why someone may do something unthinkable for you or I.

Those are not small things. I understand what you are trying to convey but those are poor examples. You just listed the foundational things, not small.
